Life management

Recently I wrote this when thinking about personal growth:
“I will no longer manage my time.  I will focus on managing my life in a way that is focused on feeling fulfilled.”

While time management is important, it really is about completing the things each day that will have the biggest impact on your life, family, business and community.  When you begin to think about time management from that point of view, it is easier to look at the big picture and not the items on your list that are squeaking the loudest or are the easiest to accomplish.

So if I was to list my top priorities in life what would they be? Read more »

April 2010 Projects

I am embarrassed by the fact that I have been journaling so little.  It is not a matter of not having anything to say.  It is only not being determined  enough to stay on track.  So here I am this morning and what I am working on at this time.

Project #1.  Verbal Judo to be called verbal self defense? or some other name for the school system.  I have learned so much in this course and hope that I am able to get the message out to everyone in our school and publicly.

Project #2.  Working on Business Mastery.  I am working at honing my skills and helping those who surround me to do the same.  I have 30 lessons to go through and to work on just 1 hour per week to make better.

Project #3.  Suicide Prevention. I have been trained in this course and have been invited to be a part of the county wide push to prevent suicides, especially teen, in our community.

Project #4.  Anger management.  I have taught this in the classroom and found it to be the most wanted information for parents and children.  It is not comfortable to be angry.  This is very personal to me.  I lived a long time angry and would like to have a part in helping others not go through life that way.

Project #5.  Bully protection.  I do not like to say bully prevention.  You have no control on what others do, only how you respond.  With good example though we can help others reduce the bullying instinct.

Project #6.  SAFE & RAD  I am looking into training for self defense courses to be taught to women and others on being safe in our communities and homes.  I will continue to pursue this as a core value of our school.

Project #7.  UBBT, New Way Network.  My personal training and practice on keeping myself strong and sharp should have been listed as #1, but everyday practice is a part of my life, as I work to set the example for all our students.

Performance time is coming

I am not much of a performer.  I do not relish getting up in front of others and demonstrating (showing off) hardly anything, yet that is what I will need to do in just over a week.  I have worked hard this year on the physical side of my martial arts and though I realize there is much more to do, I also want to continue to grow on being a better person.

What do I mean by a better person?  I mean more mindful of my surroundings, especially  people.  I have been noticing how busy I am – many times to the point of not noticing the needs of others.  I would like to stop procrastinating on speaking kindly and saying thank you.

Recently I came to know, almost by accident, that one of our students dad had been in the hospital for a few months in a coma.  How could so much time go by and me not be aware of the difficulty going on in this family?  Now when I see them I think of the process of that family growing so close together after such a challenging time for mom and the kids.

So this year is a year of simplifying my life and training in taking notice of others needs.
